WIX Filters Lap Leader Award Keeps Winding its Way Through

Jeff Gordon, driver of the No. 24 DuPont Chevrolet, drove away with his fourth WIX Filters Lap Leader Award and a check for $5,000 for leading the most laps during Sunday’s Dodge/Save Mart 350 at the Infineon Raceway.

Shane Hmiel, driver of the No. 38 Great Clips Dodge drove away with his first WIX Filters Lap Leader Award and a check for $2,000 for his efforts during Saturday’sAlan Kulwicki 250 Presented by Forest County Potawatomi Racing at the Milwaukee Mile.

Ted Musgrave, driver of the No. 1 Mopar Dodge led the most laps of Friday’s Black Cat Fireworks 200 at the Milwaukee Mile and received a check for $1,500 for his efforts. This is Musgrave’s third WIX Filters Lap Leader Award this season.

Michigan Racing Weekend (June 19 – 20)

Jeff Gordon, driver of the No. 24 DuPont Chevrolet, drove away with his third WIX Filters Lap Leader Award and a check for $5,000 for leading the most laps during Sunday’s DHL 400 at the Michigan International Speedway.

Bobby Hamilton Jr., driver of the No. 25 U.S. Marine Corps/Timberland Pro Ford, won his second WIX Filters Lap Leader Award and a check for $2,000 for his efforts during Saturday’s Meijer 300 presented by Oreo at the Kentucky Speedway.

Fans in Memphis watched as Ted Musgrave, driver of the #1 Mopar Dodge won his second WIX Filters Lap Leader Award and a check for $1,500 for his efforts during Saturday’s O’Reilly’s 200.

For each event within the three racing divisions – NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series, NASCAR Busch Series and NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series – WIX Filters will present the driver who leads the most laps of each race with the WIX Filters Lap Leader Award.

This prestigious award includes cash payouts which will be presented during pre-race ceremonies at each event, as well as a year end payout and stately trophy for the driver who leads the most races with the most laps for each series.

Drivers who lead the most races with the most laps in 2004 for the Grand National North and West Divisions will receive year-end payouts. The WIX Filters Lap Leader Award will be expanded to include the South and Midwest series in 2005 and 2006 respectively.

In order to be eligible for the WIX Filters Lap Leader Award for a single event, drivers and teams in each series must run the WIX Filters decal on the front fender, and use WIX Racing Oil or Air Filters in their vehicles. Additionally, for any year-end payout, teams must run the decal on the front fender for every race they participate in, with an allowance for one race, and they must always use WIX Racing Oil or Air Filters.
