Dana Corporation's Paris, Tenn., Operations Provide Relief Support After Devastating Effects of Hurricane Ivan

Oct 19, 2004

Toledo, Ohio -- Oct 19, 2004 -- Dana Corporation’s (NYSE: DCN) Paris, Tenn., operations arrived in Pensacola, Fla., within hours of Hurricane Ivan coming ashore on Sept. 16 to provide relief for Dana’s Pensacola facility and employees.  Virtually all of the homes of Dana’s 300 people in the Pensacola area were damaged by winds.  Also damaged was Dana’s Pensacola plant, which supplies coupled hose and tubing assemblies to Ford, Chrysler, and Harley-Davidson.

In the days that followed the hurricane hitting Pensacola, Dana people from the Paris operations were meeting the continued needs of Dana customers and people.  Dana’s Fluid Products operation in Paris deployed three people just hours after the hurricane hit – transporting generators to Pensacola to power the plant until utility workers could restore electricity.

The next day, a team of 33 people from Dana’s Fluid Products and Sealing Products groups were deployed. They were transported by bus along with a truck and trailer packed with tools, food, water, grills, and other supplies.  Since many of the Pensacola employees were not able to return to work, the majority of this team provided assistance in production, while others went daily to assist Pensacola employees in cutting downed trees, covering roofs with tarps, and cleaning debris from around their homes.  The grills were used to prepare meals for Dana employees and utility workers alike.

After a week, members from the first team returned, and 20 people replaced them to aid in relief efforts.  People from other Dana operations in Indiana and Ohio have given their time to help keep the Pensacola operating and to help Dana people recover from the aftermaths of Ivan.

“It is with great pride to acknowledge that ‘People are our most important asset,’” said Andy Doll, Plant Manager of the Fluid Products facility.  “Despite the physical damage to the Pensacola plant and surrounding areas, it is rewarding to see Dana people respond with a sense of urgency and teamwork to continually meet the production demands of its customers and in providing assistance to Pensacola employees in need.”

Dana people from several company facilities, including the Paris operation, also established a relief fund, which is being administered in Pensacola to those employees in greatest need.
