Dana Corporation Tandem Drive Axle Now Available on Volvo VN

Apr 29, 2004

Toledo, Ohio -- Apr 29, 2004 -- Dana Corporation (NYSE: DCN) announced today that its Dana®Spicer®Torsionally Tuned-40TM (DST40) tandem drive axle is now available for the Volvo VN from Volvo Trucks North America, Inc.

“We are very pleased to extend our drive axle technologies to the Volvo VN,” said Dana Chairman and CEO Michael J. Burns.  “This product offering is important to the growing commercial-vehicle market, and we are excited to bring this level of superior system technology and performance to Volvo and its customers.”

The DST40 is an integral component of the Roadranger®Torsionally Tuned System, now available for the Volvo VN.  The DST40 significantly reduces inter-axle driveline angles and improves overall drivetrain durability and performance – all while minimizing size, cost, and weight concerns for fleet owners and drivers.

“When the DST40 is specified with other leading Roadranger components, the result is the industry’s only torsionally tuned system of drivetrain components,” said Nick Cole, president, Dana Heavy Vehicle Technologies and Systems Group.  “We look forward to further developing our relationship with this leading global commercial-vehicle manufacturer.”

Volvo Trucks North America is part of Volvo Truck Corporation and AB Volvo, a publicly held company headquartered in Gothenburg, Sweden.
