Dana Off-Highway Systems Unveils Its Complete Product Line For Outdoor Power Equipment and Leisure/Utility at Expo 2004

Louisville, KY -- Sep 22, 2004 -- Dana Corporation (NYSE:DCN) Off-Highway Systems announced today it will exhibit Spicer® drivetrain components for the lawn, garden, and power equipment industry at Expo 2004, Sept. 24-26 in Louisville, Ky. In addition to a variety of Spicer axles, transmissions, brakes, and related components, Dana Corp. will also feature the Spicer 200 x 45 mm hydraulic brake and 6700 single-speed transaxle.
“Dana’s Spicer product engineers have teamed with OEMs to design, test, and prototype special application drives and power transmission systems for the lawn, garden, and power equipment industry,” said Jim Hall, chief engineer. “Though physically the smallest drives in Spicer’s product line, Dana Corporation has been proud to deliver the significant durability, reliability, efficiency, and decibel-requirement compliance expected by the industry.”
The Spicer 200 x 45 mm hydraulic brake with parking is engineered with Dana Corp.’s proven on-road automotive design. It features a nominal torque rating of 8,500 pounds per inch, with automatic adjustment, a duo-servo fixed-shoe design, and non-asbestos linings.
A high-performance transmission for walk-behind mowers, the Spicer 6700 single-speed transaxle offers a reduction ratio of 3.75-to-1, with an input speed of up to 1800 rpm. The Spicer 6700 is clutch-free and has an output shaft diameter of .500 inches. It is lubricated for life, with a durable, impact-resistant DuPont® composite housing to promote longevity.

Golf and Leisure
H-12 electric axle with brakes – This high-efficiency model features a helical-gear design engineered to accept electric motors. It has a nominal load rating of 1,500 pounds and input torque ratings of 12 pounds per feet (continuous) and 48 pounds per feet (maximum intermittent):
H-12 FNR gas axle with brakes – Also a high-efficiency model, the H-12 FNR features a constant-mesh helical-gear design and a nominal load rating of 1,500 pounds. It includes a mechanical “rotary actuating” ground-speed governor and a mechanical “rotary” shift, forward to reverse. It is available with 160 mm or 7-inch mechanical- or hydraulically-actuated brakes:
H-12 FNR gas axle with mechanical differential lock – Featuring all elements of the H-12 FNR gas axle, this model additionally includes a bolt-on module that provides manual operation to lock and unlock the differential. A rotary actuator with lever is also available in four different locations:
Commercial Mowers
GT20 axle – This in-line hydrostatic transaxle design has a nominal load capacity of 1,800 pounds. Available ratios include 15.15-to-1, 20.9-to-1, and 30.0-to-1; mechanical and hydraulic seven-inch brakes are offered:
Outdoor Power Equipment
Model 6200 transmission – A high-performance single-speed transmission for use on walk-behind mowers, the 6200 has a reduction ratio of 3.75-to-1 and an input speed of 1175/1250 rpm. The housing is constructed of a durable, impact-resistant DuPont® composite material; instant engagement and disengagement is controlled by a dog-type clutch:
Model 6500 hydrostatic transaxle – Designed specifically for front engine lawn tractors, this axle features an environmentally protected brake, a push valve, and an integrated sealed reservoir; with an input shaft diameter of 17 mm and a .75-inch axle diameter. It additionally includes a wide band neutral gear and neutral centering control:
Model 4360 transmission – Designed for the front-engine rider market, this compact transaxle provides six forward speeds and one reverse speed. An optional disc brake can also be used as a park brake:
Brake Assemblies and Accessories
160 x 30 mm mechanical and hydraulic brakes – Featuring a nominal torque rating of 5,000 pounds per inch, these brakes are available with or without a parking lever. Automatic adjustment, a non-servo floating shoe design, and non-asbestos linings are standard:
7 x 1.75-inch mechanical and hydraulic brakes – With a duo-servo floating shoe design, this brake assembly has a nominal torque rating of 11,000 pounds per inch. It is also available with or without a parking lever and has non-asbestos linings:
Master cylinder – Offered for single or duo systems and compatible with DOT 3 brake fluid, the cylinder is available in aluminum or cast iron designs with 0.75-inch to 1.125-inch diameter bore sizes:
Park brake cables – Proof tested to 1,200 pounds, these one-by-19 preformed galvanized .125-inch cables are plastic-coated for improved durability and longevity; and

Hoses and steel lines – Hoses meet FMVSS 106 requirements; steel lines per SAE J527; lines and fittings are engineered with corrosion protection.
