Dana's Off-Highway Systems Group to Exhibit Product and Systems Solutions for the Construction Industry at ConExpo 2005

Las Vegas, Nevada -- Mar 15, 2005 -- Dana Corporation’s Off-Highway Systems group will exhibit Spicer® drivetrain components and systems for the construction industry at ConExpo, March 15-19, 2005, in Las Vegas.  In addition to a variety of Spicer® axles, transmissions, brakes, electronic controls, driveshafts and related components, Dana will also display examples of its complete systems capabilities for off-highway vehicles including teleboom handlers, wheeled excavators, front-end loaders, compact wheel loaders, haulers, pavers and backhoe loaders.

Total Systems Solutions

The Spicer® heavy-duty drivetrain system for teleboom handlers provides an excellent example of the complete systems platforms Dana’s Off-Highway Systems group offers for a wide spectrum of vehicles.  Comprised of the Spicer® Model 223 axle set with an optional VDT13000 transmission and Spicer® 1410 Series driveshafts, the drivetrain system is designed to provide increased productivity, higher reach, and higher lift capacity, with greater versatility to accommodate a variety of tools.

20-Ton Compactor System

Engineered for single drum compactors, this system includes the Spicer® 193 axle with a rigid pad mounted-housing design and the Spicer® Model 307 hydrostatic transmission. This system

provides a deep axle reduction with high output torque. The 20-ton system is part of a complete family of compactor systems for vehicles from four to 25 tons. 

Backhoe Loader System

Designed specifically for compact vehicle applications up to 120 horsepower, the Spicer® Powershuttle Transmission Model PSR08 functions ideally in a backhoe loader system that includes the Spicer® Model 222 front axle, Spicer® Model 123 rear axle, and Spicer Life Series® 55 driveshaft. 

27-Ton Front-End Loader System

The Spicer® Hercules™ 37R and 43R axles, Spicer® HSE 2+3 hydrostatic/electronically-controlled transmission, and Spicer® GWB™ 2035 Series driveshaft are combined in a complete front-end loader system designed for 19- to 27-ton vehicles.

13-Ton Front-End Loader System

Dana’s front-end loader system for vehicles in the 13-ton operating weight class is composed of Spicer® Model 113 front and rear axles, the Spicer® Model 354 powershift drop-box, and the service-free Spicer Life Series® 55 driveshaft.

Spicer® Transmission Controls

Dana will introduce a new generation of Spicer® transmission controls for the North American market that provide compatibility with Can 2.b communication protocol.  The new series of transmission controls includes the ECon™ essential controller and PCon™ powertrain controller (compatible with all Dana transmission designs), as well as the TCon™ transmission controller, ICon™ intelligent controller, and ACon™ advanced controller (compatible with Dana’s TE transmission series, along with the Spicer® TE15 family of powershift transmissions to be released in the fourth quarter of 2005).

Portal Axles

Product representing the complete line of Spicer® 25S, 35S and 50S portal axles – designed for compact utility tractors that require front-wheel drive capability, high turn angles and dependable performance – will also be on display. 

Single Reduction Axles

A representative group of Spicer® single-reduction Model 44, 60 and 70 steering and rigid drive axles will be exhibited.

Other Products

A representative line of Spicer® Italcardano™ wing bearing driveshafts, Spicer® GWB™ round bearing driveshafts, and Spicer® 10 Series half-round bearing end fittings will additionally be displayed.
