Oct 22, 1998

PARIS, Tenn., Oct. 22 /PRNewswire/ -- The Plumley Division of Dana
Corporation (NYSE: DCN) has begun shipping modular composite sealing
assemblies from its newly opened Composite Sealing Center. The first shipment
went to Ford Europe in the United Kingdom, while the second shipment of
composite assemblies went to the Chrysler Corp. Trenton, Mich., engine plant
for installation on the Neon automobile.
Dedicated to producing thermoset and thermoplastic assemblies, the
60,000-square-foot facility will be manufacturing 13 new composite assembly
part numbers by the end of 1998 and expects to be producing more than 20 part
numbers for engine builders throughout the world by the year 2000. The center
will process more than eight million pounds of thermoset and thermoplastic
materials annually.
The new center went from plant start-up to full capacity in a matter of a
few months, and Plumley's general manager, Tom Dalton, commended the Composite
Sealing Center employees for their hard work and dedication. "It takes heroes
to accomplish what I've seen in the last couple of months," he said.
"Plumley's Composite Sealing Center offers engine builders tremendous
capacity for advanced new composite modular assemblies. As these assemblies
become more and more an integral component of tomorrow's vehicles, this is
where these assemblies will be coming from. Dana is pleased to be prepared to
supply such important components," said Tom Dattilo, Dana's vice president for
Scaling Products.
