Dec 6, 1996

WASHINGTON, Dec. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- President William J. Clinton today
presented the 1996 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award to Dana Corporation
Chairman Southwood J. Morcott and Dana Credit Corporation President
Edward J. Shultz in a ceremony in Washington, D.C.
Dana Commercial Credit, the leasing operation of Toledo, Ohio-based Dana
Corporation, was named one of just four recipients of this year's Baldrige
Award on October 16. Dana is only the fifth company honored in the award's
service category since the establishment of the award in 1987.
"When the subject is quality, there is no greater honor than the Malcolm
Baldrige Award," Morcott said. "And there is certainly no greater distinction
than to represent the 45,000 people of Dana Corporation in accepting this
award from the President of the United States."
Leasing is one of eight Dana core businesses. Others include axles,
driveshafts, structural components, sealing products, filtration products,
industrial products and engine products.
The Baldrige Award reflects Dana's dedication to quality in all its
operations. Since 1992, Dana has used its own Quality Leadership Awards,
based on Baldrige criteria, to evaluate and improve the performance of Dana
divisions in key quality categories.
Another notable award recently earned by Dana's credit operation was the
1995 Michigan Quality Leadership Award, a state-level award based on the
Baldrige criteria. To date, 12 other Dana Corporation operations have also
earned state-level quality awards.
Dana Commercial Credit is a diversified leasing company with offices
throughout North America and Europe.
Dana Corporation is a global leader in the engineering, manufacturing and
distribution of products and systems for the vehicular, industrial and mobile
off-highway markets. Founded in 1904 and based in Toledo, Ohio, Dana operates

$7.6 billion. Named in 1995 by Financial World magazine as one of the "Best
