CAMBRIDGE, Ontario, May 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Dana Corporation (NYSE: DCN)
announced today its Long Manufacturing Division's Cambridge, Ontario, facility
was awarded the Silver Business Award in the Outstanding Business Category by
the Recycling Council of Ontario. The council's 1998 Ontario Waste
Minimization Awards recognize outstanding sustained waste reduction efforts.
Long Manufacturing is a division of Dana's Fluid Systems Group, one of the
core businesses of Dana's Engine Systems strategic business unit. Since
beginning its waste diversion program in 1996, the Cambridge facility has been
honored for its outstanding waste reduction each year. The facility was able
to achieve an 86 percent waste diversion rate in 1998 to earn the Recycling
Council of Ontario's award.
"Dana has a long-standing heritage of respect for our environment," said
Allan Cameron, president of Dana's Fluid Systems Group. "We're all proud of
the waste reduction efforts at Long Manufacturing's Cambridge facility."
The Cambridge facility worked with Water and Earth Science Associates Ltd.
of Kitchener (WESA) to identify areas where the plant could increase its waste
diversion rate. The facility's diversion rate has continued to improve each
year. As a result of reduction, reuse, and recycling efforts, in 1998 the
facility achieved its highest diversion rating since beginning its waste
reduction program.
