Feb 21, 1997
TOLEDO, Ohio, Feb. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Dana Corporation (NYSE: DCN) will feature its ability to design and assemble modular systems for vehicular manufacturers in its booth (No. 2408) at this year's Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) International Congress & Exposition February 24-27 at Cobo Hall in Detroit. A modular system is a group of components or subassemblies that work together and are delivered as an assembled unit. A chassis module for a truck, for example, includes the structural frame, driveshafts, axles, suspension components and brakes. A "rolling chassis" also includes the wheels. In addition to the live exhibit, information about the show and the Dana advantage in modular systems will be available on computer screens around the world. Dana's SAE '97 page (accessible from Dana's home page at http://www.dana.com) will highlight the company's decade-long experience building heavy-duty truck chassis modules and its plans to provide light truck rolling chassis in Brazil beginning next year. Visitors to the internet site can also hear a two-minute audio excerpt from a speech to a January 23 SAE Executive Breakfast delivered by Dana Chairman Southwood J. Morcott. In the address, Morcott discussed changing relationships between auto suppliers and manufacturers and the need for trust and respect in business relationships. Other links on the site will allow visitors to learn about a new Dana-designed "Super 27" constant-velocity joint and technology for information sharing among different product-design computer systems. Abstracts of five technical papers written by Dana engineers for SAE will also be available. In addition, the site links to "Top 10 Things to Do in Detroit" with information on sports, tourist attractions and restaurants.
