Oct 30, 1998

INDIANAPOLIS, Oct. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Victor Reinz Valve Seals, L.L.C.,
has been selected to receive the 1998 State of Indiana Quality Improvement
Award. The award is given in recognition of outstanding leadership and
achievement in the pursuit of manufacturing quality.
Indiana Lt. Gov. Joseph E. Kernan presented the award to Debra Armstrong,
quality manager of the Victor Reinz Valve Seals, L.L.C. manufacturing plant in
Avilla, Ind. "Thanks for a job well done," said Kernan in making the award.
"Please consider setting aside some time to celebrate your company's
achievements and the influence you are having on the quality of life in the
Hoosier state."
Victor Reinz Valve Seals, L.L.C. is a joint venture between Victor Reinz,
a division of the Dana Corporation (NYSE: DCN), and Kitco Inc. At the
division's location in northeastern Indiana, rubber compounds are produced,
valve stem seals are molded, and the seals and their component parts are
assembled and shipped to automotive and truck manufacturers around the world.
The facility's registration for the QS-9000 program was instrumental in
the award. A team of Victor Reinz employees successfully completed QS-9000
implementation training, and then went on to train plant employees and set up
the QS-9000 system. Internal audits were conducted before the Registration
Audit in January 1998, and on March 10, 1998, the plant was officially
registered to ISO 9002:1994 and QS-9000:1995.
"Victor Reinz is justifiably proud of this recognition, and committed,
through continuous improvement, to provide quality products that meet the
expectations of our company and customers," said Tom Dattilo, Dana's vice
president for Sealing Products.
