May 18, 1999

TOLEDO, Ohio, May 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Dana Corporation's (NYSE: DCN)
Albarus Spicer Elastomers and FTE Automotive divisions have received General
Motors' Supplier of the Year Award for the fourth consecutive year. The Dana
divisions are two of just 29 companies among GM's 30,000 suppliers who have
received this global award for four years running.
The Albarus Spicer Elastomers Division, located in Gravatai, Brazil,
supplies General Motors with engine mounts for the Astra and the S-10, along
with engine mounts and bumpers for the Corsa. FTE Automotive, with plants in
Ebern and Thuringia, Germany, supplies hydraulic clutch and brake actuation
systems for eight different GM vehicles produced in Europe and North America.
Both divisions are a part of Dana's Automotive Systems Group.
"GM's Suppliers of the Year represent the 'best of the best,'" said Harold
R. Kutner, vice president and group executive, General Motors' Worldwide
Purchasing and North American Production Control & Logistics. "The fact that
Dana's FTE and Albarus Spicer Elastomers operations have earned this
distinction for four straight years places them in an elite position among
GM's global suppliers."
General Motors utilized teams of purchasing, quality, engineering, and
manufacturing experts from its operations around the world to select the
winners from its suppliers in 29 countries. This year, for the first time,
General Motors utilized technology improvements as a measurement for the 1998
supplier award, along with the standing quality and service measurements.
"We're honored to maintain our 'Supplier of the Year' status with General
Motors," said Bill Carroll, president of the Dana Automotive Systems Group and
a member of Dana's policy committee. "We're proud of the achievements of
Spicer Elastomers and FTE in technology, quality, and service. It's a
reflection of our commitment to be a global leader in the supply of 'under-
the-vehicle' and 'under-the-hood' components and systems solutions."
