Dana to Supply Up to One Million Cylinder Liners Annually to Toyota In Kentucky

TOLEDO, Ohio, April 28 /PRNewswire/ -- Dana Corporation (NYSE: DCN) announced today that its Richmond, Indiana, Engine Products Group facility will begin supplying as many as one million cylinder liners annually to the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky, Inc., facility in Georgetown, Kentucky, beginning later this month. Dana's Perfect Circle brand cylinder liners will support production of Toyota's 3-liter "1MZ" V6 engine, which is being produced at the Georgetown plant. The facility produces Toyota Camry and Avalon passenger cars. The Dana-Toyota agreement represents one of the automotive manufacturer's largest purchases of U.S.-made engine components for mass production purposes. Hugo Ferreira, Group Vice President for Dana's Engine Products Group, said the business award "speaks to the quality of our engine components and represents a major opportunity for Dana. We're pleased to build upon the relationship Dana and Toyota have forged in the structural components and driveshaft arenas." Dana was the first U.S. manufacturer to win frame business from a Japanese company, building a plant in Stockton, California, in 1994 to supply the Toyota Tacoma trucks built at the New United Motor Manufacturing Incorporated (NUMMI) facility in nearby Fremont. In addition, Dana 's Parish Light Vehicular Structures Division recently announced plans to build a frame manufacturing facility in Owensboro, Kentucky, to supply light-truck frames for Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Indiana, Inc.'s new facility in Princeton, Indiana. Dana's Spicer Driveshaft Group has been awarded business supplying driveshafts to Toyota in six nations, including domestically-produced T-100 pickups to be made in Princeton, Indiana, beginning in 1999.
