Dana Corporation Product Innovation Earns Truck Sales & Leasing Terrific Twenty Award

Jan 14, 2004

TOLEDO, Ohio, Jan. 14 /PRNewswire/ -- Dana Corporation (NYSE: DCN)
announced today that its new Spicer(R) E-series steer axle lineup and its
recent LMSTM wheel-end improvements have been recognized as two of the 20 best
product introductions of 2003 by Truck Sales & Leasing magazine.

The publication honored Dana with its Terrific Twenty Award, which
annually recognizes 20 products featuring exceptional levels of innovation,
serviceability, and performance.
"We are very proud to have been honored for our continued efforts in
supplying innovative products that provide the best performance in the
industry," said Nick Cole, president of Dana's Heavy Vehicle Technologies &
Systems Group.
Across-the-board improvements have been made to Dana's lineup of Spicer
integral-arm steer axles. The improvements were made to increase the
durability of key axle components and maintain the lightweight design, while
helping customers reduce overall operational costs. Highlighting the list of
new features is a unique two-drawkey-and-spring-washer-kingpin retention
system, along with a new, more robust beam forging design. The result is
improved total vehicle alignment capability, better axle durability, and
reduced maintenance.
New Dana Spicer LMS wheel end caps were designed to upgrade the popular
Spicer LMS wheel ends. The new caps reduce and simplify maintenance, help
ensure the longevity of wheel-end components, and help reduce overall vehicle
weight. A patent-pending contaminant-exclusion system prevents water from
entering the wheel end assembly during high-pressure washer spray or when
wheels are submerged in water.
Dana Corporation is a global leader in the design, engineering, and
