May 14, 2003
TOLEDO, Ohio, May 14 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Dana Corporation (NYSE: DCN) announced today that its new Spicer(R) E-1462I steer axle has been recognized as one of the best product introductions of the past year by Heavy Duty Trucking and Truck Sales & Leasing magazines. (Logo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/19990903/DANA ) Heavy Duty Trucking honored Dana with its Nifty Fifty Award, and Truck Sales & Leasing honored Dana with its Terrific Twelve award. These rankings annually showcase the editors' picks of the best new product introductions. The E-1462I steer axle was chosen from among hundreds of new product introductions to receive these two respected awards, based on its usefulness to the fleet and truck operator through advances in product innovation, serviceability, and performance. "We are very pleased that these publications have recognized Dana for supplying innovative products with exceptional performance and serviceability. This product not only anticipates customer needs, but surpassed industry standards, as well," said Joe Magliochetti, Dana chairman and CEO. Nick Cole, president of Dana's Heavy Vehicle Technologies and Systems Group, said, "These awards reflect Dana's efforts to ensure that our products continue to support the most critical requirements of today's fleets and truck operators." The E-1462I steer axle's kingpin features an integral steering arm and replaces the E-1460I drop standard-track axle. The new design features kingpin joint improvements that add durability. The patent-pending kingpin uses two drawkeys with spring washer retention in a more rigid beam design. A sealed thrust bearing keeps lubricant in and contaminants out. Options include wheel-bearing adjustment with fine or extra-fine thread, an ABS sensor or hydraulic hose attachment, and stop-bolt assembly for greater turn angle adjustment. Dana's Commercial Vehicle Systems unit designs, manufactures, and markets front-steer, rear-drive, trailer, and auxiliary axles; driveshafts; steering shafts; brakes; suspensions; and related systems, modules, and services for the commercial vehicle market. Major components and modules are marketed under the Spicer(R) brand name. Dana's strategic marketing alliance with Eaton Corporation's Truck Components group provides innovative drivetrain systems under the Roadranger(R) brand name.
