Third Dana Operation to Earn Country's Highest Quality Honor in Two Years TOLEDO, Ohio, Sept. 19 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Dana Corporation (NYSE: DCN) announced today that its Spicer Driveshaft Canada facility in Magog, Quebec, Canada, received the National Quality Institute (NQI) Canada Quality Award of Excellence. (Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/19990903/DANA ) Dana is the only company to have three operations receive the award in the last two years. Last year, Dana's Structural Solutions Division and its Spicer Driveshaft facility in Thorold, Ontario, received the award. "It is a true honor to have one of our facilities earn Canada's highest quality honor, but it is especially gratifying that this is Dana's third Canadian national quality award in two years," said Joe Magliochetti, Dana chairman and CEO. "These awards illustrate the global commitment of our people to quality and customer service and further reflect the continuing benefit of the Dana Quality Leadership Process." The Magog facility was recognized for its efforts toward its overall business system, which is driven by a successful team atmosphere with initiatives focused on environmental improvements. NQI examiners were also impressed with the level of deployment in the facility's suggestion program, with all employees having immediate access to idea submittal. The program has generated 3,260 ideas this year -- or 20 ideas per person -- with an 88.6 percent implementation rate. Established in 1988, the facility employs nearly 162 people and achieved its ISO 14001 registration in seven months after program implementation. The award will be presented Oct. 22, 2002, at the annual Canada Award for Excellence Gala Ceremony at the Metro Toronto Convention Center in Toronto. The National Quality Institute assists organizations in Canada to achieve excellence through a strategic approach and application of quality and healthy workplace principles, practices, and certification, as embodied in NQI criteria. Established in 1992, and supported by private sector organizations, the National Quality Institute is a member-driven, independent, not-for-profit organization.
