The honor represents the Automotive Hall of Fame's oldest award, dating to 1940. Over this period, just 375 individuals have received Distinguished Service Citations. For 35 years, Mr. Magliochetti has helped to shape the vision, strategy, and performance of the Dana Corporation, one of the world's leading automotive suppliers. Upon being appointed as Dana's sixth chairman in April 2000, he authored Transformation 2005, the company's strategic plan for growth through innovation. Along with his strong emphasis on technology and innovation, Mr. Magliochetti has also intensified the company's focus on customer support and unrelenting quality. The success of this latter pursuit was evidenced last year when U.S. President George W. Bush presented the U.S. operations of Dana's Torque Management Group with the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the nation's highest quality-oriented honor. Mr. Magliochetti's contributions to the automotive industry extend beyond his work at Dana. He is a member of the U.S. Business Roundtable and its Policy Committee, and a member and former chairman of the Motor and Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA) board of directors. He serves on the board of the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM), and is a member of the U.S.-Japan Business Council, and the MEMA/JAMA Liaison Committee to cultivate automotive trade relations with Japan. He has also served on the U.S. Department of Commerce Auto Parts Advisory Committee. Additionally, Mr. Magliochetti serves on the Board of Directors for BellSouth and CIGNA Corporation, as well as the independent nominating committee to recommend directors for the New York Stock Exchange. Mr. Magliochetti is also very active in the Toledo community. At the local level, he is currently Chairman of the 2002 fundraising campaign for the United Way of Greater Toledo, Chairman of the Toledo Symphony Board of Trustees, and a member of the Center of Science and Industry (COSI) Toledo Board of Trustees.
