"This is more than a name change and a new organizational chart," said
Bill Carroll, president of Dana's Automotive Systems Group. "This is about a
new era of customer focus and support. We are aligning our strategy and
resources to support the development of the next-generation products and
systems our customers will require.
"The Traction Technologies name is rooted in the concept that we offer
more than quality axle products," he added. "In reality, our products,
systems, and solutions encompass everything from individual components to the
gearless technologies of tomorrow -- essentially anything that transfers power
to the wheels."
The Traction Technologies Group will be led by Ismael Melgar, a 23-year
Dana veteran who will serve as president of the group. The group's U.S.
operations consist of three segments focusing on customer satisfaction,
transformation, and global strategies. In addition, the group has
19 operations outside the United States which report directly to Mr. Melgar.
Globally, the group's resources provide support to customers across six
continents.
Bob Fesenmyer (27 years of Dana service) is president of the group's
Detroit-based, U.S. Customer Satisfaction unit. This operation comprises
assembly operations in Buena Vista, Va.; Columbia, Mo.; and Dry Ridge, Ky.;
and regional distribution centers in Albion, Ind.; and Chesapeake, Va. In
addition to customer satisfaction, the unit also focuses on engineering,
quality, and sales.
Gilberto Ceratti (12 years of service) will serve as vice president and
general manager of the group's U.S. Transformation unit, based in Ft. Wayne,
Ind. The unit consists of manufacturing operations in Ft. Wayne; Cape
Girardeau, Mo.; Greensboro, N.C.; Jonesboro, Ark.; and Syracuse, Ind. Mr.
Ceratti will lead the group's continuing progress in applying lean
manufacturing concepts within the operations. These efforts include asset
rationalization, supplier partnering, and design and support engineering
programs.
Eduardo Jonas (16 years of service) will serve as director of the group's
Global Strategies unit. Mr. Jonas will lead the group's focus on advanced
engineering and global customer development, as well as its information
technology and marketing and communications efforts. He will also be located
in Ft. Wayne.
Mr. Melgar said the realignment is a commitment to transforming the
organization to enhance Dana's competitive advantage. "This will occur by
enabling better asset management and will facilitate the consolidation of
duplicate activities," he said. "It will also improve response time and
provide advanced technologies through our strategic partnerships.
"The leaders of these three units bring more than half a century of
combined global experience and expertise to our ongoing commitment to satisfy
the current and future needs of our customers," he added.
Dana's global Traction Technologies Group operations consist of more than
25 manufacturing, assembly, and research and development facilities. Dana is
also a partner with GKN in Drive-Tek, LLC, a joint venture focused on the
design of advanced driveline systems, and recently entered into a partnership
with GETRAG.
The Traction Technologies Group is part of Dana's Automotive Systems

design solutions, complete integrated systems engineering, and logistics,
drawing upon nearly a century of expertise in the following products:
