Dana has established a new Spicer Off-Highway Driveshaft Group, which will
provide worldwide coordination for driveshaft sales, marketing, application
engineering, and service support for Dana's off-highway and industrial
markets. Product lines for the new group include Spicer(R), Spicer GWB(TM),
and Spicer Italcardano driveshafts.
"By increasing our focus and commitment to these driveshaft product lines,
our group can better serve customers worldwide with complete off-highway
drivetrain systems that include axles, transmissions, torque converters,
electronic controls, and driveshafts," said Nick Cole, president of Dana's
Off-Highway Systems Group. "Off-highway and industrial driveshaft
applications demand product diversity and a global manufacturing base which we
can now ensure through the formation of a new, dedicated unit within our
group."
"With this move, Dana's Off-Highway Systems Group offers the most varied,
complete, and technologically advanced off-highway products and systems
available to the off-highway and industrial markets," he said.
A complete line of maintenance-free and reduced-maintenance products
includes Spicer 10 Series(TM) and Spicer Life Series(R) driveshafts; Spicer
Compact 2000(TM) driveshafts, which offer European customers a round bearing
style similar to the Spicer Life Series; and Spicer Futura(TM) driveshafts,
which feature a wing-bearing design and are manufactured by Spicer
Italcardano.
In order to ensure maximum manufacturing synergies, all of Dana's
driveshaft products will continue to be manufactured through Dana's Automotive
Systems Group.
"This worldwide manufacturing base ensures maximum asset utilization
globally across all markets," said Bill Carroll, president of Dana's
Automotive Systems Group. "Additionally, we can leverage the size of our
driveshaft operations globally for the benefit of our customers. With
49 manufacturing and assembly facilities in 20 countries, our worldwide
Driveshaft Products Group is able to work around the clock for our customers."
The new group will be led by an experienced team of Dana veterans within
the off-highway vehicle and industrial equipment industries. Ron Temple has
been named vice president and general manager of the Spicer Off-Highway
Driveshaft Group. Temple has been with Dana for 44 years and has held a
variety of management positions throughout Europe, serving most recently as
vice president and general manager of Spicer Agricultural Axle Division in
Italy. He is multi-lingual in English, French, and Italian. Temple will be
assisted by Bruce Russen, manager for North and South America, (419) 866-2633,
and Brian Howells, manager for Europe and Asia, 011 +44 1604 675 005.
"Our group's reorganization to focus on global driveshaft needs - along
with other off-highway drivetrain products - will be a smooth and seamless
event for our customers," said Temple. "Customers will experience an increase
in support and service, not only for driveshaft products, but also for all our
products and systems for off-highway and industrial equipment markets."
