Dec 7, 2000

TOLEDO, Ohio, Dec. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Dana Corporation (NYSE: DCN)
announced today that a team from its Parish Structural Products facility in
Stockton, Calif., has earned the National Association of Manufacturers'
Workforce Excellence Award in the large manufacturing category.

The award was presented Wednesday during a ceremony at the plant. The
award is granted annually to the workforce or team that has made a significant
contribution to the success of its company through a unique process or
product.
The Dana team was recognized for improving the parts delivery process to
the assembly line -- thus reducing parts inventory from eight hours to three,
reducing the number of operators required to deliver parts to one person, and
reducing wrong-part deliveries by 75 percent -- all while achieving 95 percent
efficiency.
The results were achieved by a "Kan Ban Kaizen" team of product
technicians and coordinators working together to apply the principles of the
Dana Style of Management and the Toyota Production System to achieve results.
Dana's Stockton facility supplies full frame assemblies for the Toyota
Tacoma pick-up truck. The frames come in nearly a dozen models --
accommodating a combination of 4X2's and 4X4's, short and long beds, a crew
cab, four- and six-cylinder engines, and automatic and manual transmissions.
Dan Cavanagh, manager of the Stockton facility, said, "Our team is very
honored to be recognized by NAM for its achievements. The caliber of
companies that make up the National Association of Manufacturers is very
strong. This shows that Dana ranks with other world-class companies and is
achieving superior results."
The Stockton facility is part of Dana's Structural Products Group that was
recently named a finalist -- for the third time -- for the Automotive News
PACE Award. The Structural Products Group also was recognized as one of "the
best of the best" among automotive suppliers by Automotive Industries magazine
in its annual Quest for Excellence Survey. The group was honored in the
Chassis/Suspension Systems category for "consistently high rankings in the
areas of quality, price, delivery, service/response, and innovation."
Dana Corporation is one of the world's largest suppliers to vehicle
