Dana Corporation Participates in Minority Business Development Effort

Company, 35 supplier partners support Michigan Minority Business Development Council TOLEDO, Ohio, July 25 /PRNewswire/ -- As part of its ongoing commitment to minority business development, Dana Corporation (NYSE: DCN) participated in a group effort Monday to support the Michigan Minority Business Development Council (MMBDC). (Photo: http://www.newscom.com/cgi-bin/prnh/19990903/DANA ) Dana and 35 of its supplier partners joined in presenting a $20,000 joint membership check to Dr. Delbert Gray, president and CEO of MMBDC in an event hosted by Dana at the DaimlerChrysler Technical Center in Auburn Hills, Mich. DaimlerChrysler Corporation Executive Vice President of Procurement and Supply Tom Sidlik, also participated in the program. "We are encouraged by the tremendous level of participation among our supplier partners in supporting MMBDC," said Dana Chairman and CEO Joe Magliochetti. "Dana is committed to the advancement of minority supplier development. The natural extension of this is to see that this level of support is carried further into our own supply chain by assisting our suppliers in developing their own diversity programs." Membership in the MMBDC is one element in Dana's program to encourage its suppliers to develop minority supplier initiatives. Other elements include establishment of minority supplier champions and rewarding supplier partners who achieve specific sales volumes with certified minority suppliers. Added Kenneth Gardner, director of Minority Supplier Development, "Minority supplier development is a key component of Dana's global strategic sourcing process. Ultimately, we'd like to see this type of integrated effort spread throughout all tiers of the supply chain." Dana has achieved significant progress in its minority supplier development efforts. Indicative of this progress was the recent Circle of Excellence Award earned by Dana's Spicer Light Axle Group.
