Dana Corporation Selected as 4WD Systems Integrator for Innovative Ford/Mazda Sport-Utility Wagon

    TOLEDO, Ohio, April 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Ford/Mazda has selected Dana
Corporation's (NYSE: DCN) Automotive Systems Group as the systems integrator
of the four-wheel-drive system for its unique, model year 2001 mini sport-
utility wagon, the Ford Escape/Mazda Tribute.  The vehicle will be built in
Kansas City, Mo., and Hofu, Japan.

    Dana will assemble the rear independent axle, including the rear
differential and rear halfshafts, at its facility in Columbia, Mo.  The main
driveshaft will be produced at Dana's Louisville, Ky., facility.  The axle and
main driveshaft, coupled with a torque biasing clutch that features an
electronic lock-up control, make up the Escape's Control Trac II 4WD System.
    The Escape is the sixth entry into the Ford Outfitters line-up.  With the
Mazda Tribute, it gives Ford the most far-reaching sport-utility vehicles on
the planet.
