TOLEDO, Ohio, Nov. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Dana Corporation's (NYSE: DCN)
Chairman Southwood J. "Woody" Morcott will be the featured speaker for the
first Executive Forum on Ethical Leadership to be held at Bowling Green State
University in Bowling Green, Ohio, on November 18, 1999.
"Woody Morcott was a natural choice for us an inaugural speaker," said Dr.
Edward F. McClennen, forum co-chairman and Ohio Board of Regents Eminent
Scholar in Moral and Political Philosophy. "His personal integrity and the
high value he places on personal ethics and corporate values make him an
authority on these subjects."
The Executive Forum on Ethical Leadership is a joint initiative of the
Dana Corporation and the Interdisciplinary Program in Institutional Theory and
History at Bowling Green State University. The Forum seeks to provide a place
where executives of local companies can share their perspectives on a wide
range of ethical issues with academics and other professionals.
"It is not just the corporation, but society that bears the true cost of
unacceptable ethical behavior. Dana Corporation understands the significance
of this issue and the importance of studying it," Mike DeBacker, forum co-
chairman and Dana Vice President and Assistant General Counsel. "We look to
this Forum to provide an ideal setting in which top management and
institutional theorists can work together to better understand the issues
confronting business leaders today."
The Institutional Theory and History program at BGSU is devoted to
understanding the roles played by both formal and informal institutions in
social, economic, and political change and development. "In this age of
economic globalization and rapid technological change, we need to understand
the complex mix of strategic and ethical choices made by corporations, as well
as how these choices contribute to changes in the general social, economic,
and political environment," Dr. McClennen added.
