DCC Technology Management Group Releases Wyzdom 5.3 Software Aimed at Improving IT Value through Technology Lifecycle Management

Apr 5, 1999

Latest version of software adds software license management, enhances IT
planning and forecasting to optimize IT dollars

SAN FRANCISCO, April 5 /PRNewswire/ -- DCC Technology Management Group
(TMG), a business unit of Dana Commercial Credit Corporation (DCC) and an
enterprise-class provider of technology lifecycle management solutions,
announced today the immediate availability of Wyzdom(R) 5.3 software. This is
the latest version of TMG's comprehensive software for technology lifecycle
management, designed to maximize IT resources and gain the greatest budget
value.
Wyzdom, a web-based solution, enables corporations to centrally manage
their technology assets by integrating information about the physical,
financial and contractual aspects of each IT asset throughout its useful life.
The new version expands beyond traditional asset management to include
software agreement management, powerful reporting and user interface
improvements. The following are highlights of the major enhancements:

Software License Agreement -- IT managers can use the software license
functionality to control license compliance, prevent duplicating purchases of
existing software and save money on license and maintenance fees. Wyzdom
automatically notifies IT managers via e-mail when the number of users exceeds
the number licensed, so that prompt corrective action can be taken.
IT Management Reports -- Wyzdom includes additional preformatted reports
to review information stored in the database. New reports, such as the IT
expenditure report and leased asset accounting forecast, provide insight into
cash flow and cost center expenditures for effective budgeting and financial
reporting.
User Interface Enhancements -- Among the many usability enhancements is a
unique hot-link field. This feature enables users to place a hot-link of any
type into the custom field of all editors in Wyzdom. For example, in the
software license agreement field, end-users can hot-link to their scanned
contracts and/or related documents and view the documents or images by
clicking on the location of the file, which would be entered in the custom
field. Additionally, Wyzdom users can create links to their vendors, web
sites by entering the URL in the hot-link custom field, giving them automatic
access to their vendors, product catalog.

"Our customers have told us that software license compliance is a critical
issue in their technology lifecycle management program," said Patricia Benson,
managing director, DCC Technology Management Group. "The new software license
agreement functionality allows IT managers to reduce software overspending and
channel the funds saved into continuously improving their IT infrastructure."
Wyzdom is platform- and database-independent and includes a high-level
application programming interface (API) for powerful integrations with
Enterprise Resource Planning, Help Desk, and other management systems. Wyzdom
provides IT managers the ability to create a more efficient IT infrastructure
and derive better value from their technology purchases by understanding and
controlling their IT resources. TMG's total technology lifecycle management
solution combines Wyzdom with strategic consulting on asset management
practices, resulting in rapid software deployment and allowing businesses to
quickly realize a return on their technology investment.
