"Dana's leading global position in engine technology is helping customers such as Hyundai and Kia develop vehicles that feature robust, highly fuel efficient engines," said Ted Zielinski, Dana's director of engineering at Dana's Oakville, Ontario technology center.  "We look forward to growing our relationship by continuing to create and develop solutions for their world-class powertrain technologies."

Dana's engine oil cooler helps lower and maintain the engine oil's operating temperature using engine coolant or air-flow as the cooling mechanism.  Dana engineers designed an engine mounted cooler for the multi-port injection (MPI) and gasoline direct injection (GDI) engines, which allows for increased durability of the engine oil.

Dana worked with Hyundai and Kia to provide localized, cost-effective manufacturing and assembly options in North America, so that the components could be easily transferred to final vehicle assembly facilities in Montgomery, Ala., and West Point, Ga.  Dana will manufacture and assemble the engine oil coolers at its facility in Rochester Hills, Mich.

"Our manufacturing solutions, along with our ability to meet aggressive timelines without compromising quality, were instrumental in helping us earn this important first-time business with Hyundai and Kia," said Dwayne Matthews, vice president, Dana Power Technologies Group.
